In January 2014 a tiny bat made headlines in the UK, Europe and across the world after a remarkable voyage of 600 Km. That previous record has now been superseded by another individual from the same species, namely the Nathusius' pipistrelle (Pipistrellus nathusii), who travelled a total of at least 1458km. This is a truly extraordinary feat for a bat that typically weighs the same as a 50p coin.

Launch of the Response for Nature report

Today sees the launch of the Response for Nature report. This report follows on from The State of Nature report which was published in 2013 and highlighted significant declines in wildlife. Bat Conservation Trust along and 25 other conservation organisations will be at events in England, Wales, Scotland and Norther Ireland calling for government to play their part in a plan for nature recovery.
